HISTORY MUSEUM

architecture

The floor plan ties into the existing network of alleys in Binghamton that connect important public spaces to main pedestrian thoroughfares. The entrances to the museum are located within these alleys along internal glazed walls. The glazed museum walls that face the alleys and the solid metal exterior walls direct attention toward the raw adjacent facades. A single processional staircase extends towards these undesigned facades and call attention to an architectural history of Binghamton not generally on display. All attention is on history.
